Cupcakes Anyone? Our Silicone Muffin Pan Makes Cupcakes Easy!

This weekend I decided to make the kids some cupcakes. The last day of school is coming up quickly and my 8 year old had surgery last week so we all deserved some cupcakes. As I pulled out what I needed to make the cupcakes, I decided to try out my new silicone muffin pan. I’ve never tried a silicone pan before and the kids think it’s really cool looking!

We like to make cakes and cupcakes around here. I’m nothing special when it comes to baking, decorating, or anything of the sort, but baking is a fun way to get the kids involved. We use baking to practice following directions (communication), measuring (math skills), reading recipes (comprehension), and teamwork.  So together we decided on Pink Lemonade cupcakes, to celebrate summer.

Being completely honest here, I had no idea how this silicone muffin pan was supposed to work. I read the card that came with it when I got it, and had already ran it through the dishwasher (yay for dishwasher safe!), so I put it on a cookie sheet and we got started! I love that it’s a mini-muffin pan. Mini muffins are perfect for my crew and a lot more fun to make!

I opted to use liners because my kids prefer them that way. I think next time I’m going to go without the liner and see what happens there. After lots of team work and some awesome direction following, we had cupcakes! We topped them off with pink lemonade frosting.

I have to say that this silicone muffin pan made things so much easier for me! Clean up was a breeze, the cupcakes came out perfect, and it seemed to cool down a lot faster than my metal cupcake pans. The kids like the silicone muffin pan a lot more than they like our metal cupcake pans, and when my 4 year old brushed his hand across the silicone pan there was no pain or burn. I can’t tell you how happy that made me because metal pans can (and often do! ) leave serious burns.
